John 19:25-27
Jesus’ mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene stood near the cross. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

The Third Word Jesus speaks from the cross is about his mother. Near the cross, Jesus sees his mother and the disciple whom he loved (I talk about who this might be in this past Sunday’s teaching at MCC. Go hereto listen). In his waning moments he commits the care of his mother to this Beloved Disciple. I think this touching moment works on two levels.

You are the Gift

sacredcircle-26

The topic at our Spiritual Charlotte Sister Circle for this past Saturday began in the mental and mindful meanderings of the meaning of the season.  This is traditionally & commercially understood as the season of giving, but this also means that it is the season of receiving.  From a Christian perspective,  receiving the gift of God’s love through the birth of the Christ is really what this season is about.

I found this understanding important to bring forth from a spiritual (not religious) perspective because all too often we as women collectively & individually, downplay our strengths, give what we believe others need or want from us,  and therefore downplay our true value, our true gifts, our strengths in the truest sense. When we give from this place, a place of shoulds or musts, how can we give that which we won’t allow ourselves to receive?  We many times lack the confidence or self-esteem to acknowledge our own beauty and gifts and Light…  this can prevent us from truly living our truths.  When we do this we hurt ourselves, we turn away from our divine heritage and we deny the shining of our Light upon those around us.   When we deny our own Light, we live in the shadows.

I’d like you to consider the following statement,

What you are is God’s gift to you. What you become is your gift to God, what you become is what you actually are – a sovereign expression of the Divine.

So what you become, is what you actually are…. what does that mean?  It means  re-membering who you are and what you are.  When I talk about remembering who you are, I am talking of the deepest quantum understanding of your seeded origins.   If you are “created in the image of”… God/Source/The Divine/The Goddess/Sophia  – then so is everyone else at the grocery store, your workplace, your family….. (difficult to remember at times!)   This means that everyone you look at IS the face of God/Source/The Divine looking back at you.  This also means that YOU are God/Source/The Divine in physical form here to experience itself through the relationship with self and others.  Just sit with that for a moment….

There is nothing wrong and everything right about claiming your own divine nature and your sovereignty… here, now, tomorrow, and the next day and the day after that.

When you become present with your presence, you realize that you are the gift.

Viewing yourself through another’s eyes is a powerful experience.   To be seen for the beauty that emanates from your heart, and your entire being….So in circle we experienced ourselves giving and receiving by mirroring back to the woman before us what we saw through intuition and wisdom from the deep inner knowing of our hearts…we used words to reflect back to her, Her Light, Her gifts, Her beauty so that she could exprience herself through our eyes and hearts.  In doing so we in essence were saying “I see you, I honor your light, your journey is sacred.”

This was a beautiful way to connect with one another and witness the eyes of love staring back at ourselves.  Witnessing not only another’s Light, but allowing ourselves to receive the understanding of our own Light as it reflected back to us and upon us.  This brought us out of the shadow and into the rays of our own divine Light, shining together with Light of another.

The evening’s experience ended with a channeled prayer from the heart of Sophia ,in the ancient mother tongue of stellar sound, where each woman in circle received the seeds of remembering, to anchor and empower her journey as a divine emanation here on Earth.

For those women who sat in circle with me this past Saturday night, thank you – and I look forward to sitting in circle with more of our sisters in January!

In love & light,

Debbie Chisholm

Gratitude as a Spiritual Practice

This past Saturday, five beautiful authentic women gathered in circle to sister one another.  Our topic for the evening was “Gratitude as a Spiritual Practice”. What does that mean?

It’s easy to be thankful for the good stuff….    But our growth and honoring of our truths many times comes through the challenges we face – challenges that we have crafted albeit unconsciously, and are the teachers that fuel us and inspire us most deeply.

It’s no coincidence that this campaign season has culminated just as the season of Thanksgiving is upon us.  We can be thankful for the simple things….   We can also be thankful for the challenges that help us grow in love.  Our individual personal growth is critical to the growth of the community at large – nationally and globally…… as world citizens there is something much larger at play.

So it is very obvious to me that the election results are an indication for us to look at the shadow side of our shared lives together.  It has also become obvious to me that it’s just as important to look at the shadow side or the challenges in our personal lives, including our relationships and how our lives look at any given time – because that is always in a state of flux.

Rob Bell, American author, motivational speaker and former pastor, talks about the “sacredness and holiness of our shared lives together” – this can be evaluated on a global scale, a national scale, or a personal scale…..

The intention in circle, was to help us each see our challenges and the things we resist in a different way, so that we can embrace the hardships that are really gifts  – if we choose to see them from a different perspective.  Remembering that we always have choice,  a change  in perspective can be all that is needed to create change in the joy we experience and the satisfaction we feel in our lives.

Wise words written 800 years ago can help you gain perspective…

A POEM from RUMI

The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
Some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture,
Still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
Meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
Be grateful for whatever comes.
Because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.

This season, I challenge you to look at  your spiritual beliefs and see if your actions match or measure up to what you say you believe to be true.  I challenge you to find the opportunities present in times of growth.  Deep growth truly happens when you dig in and do the work….. working through your challenges.  Gratitude is viewing your hardships with the eyes of love.  THIS is the great challenge for all of us… to apply love to the situations that most stir up inner fears.  To be love when it’s challenging….  love of self, love of others…  all the others that are here to help us see that faith is about walking your talk always and in all ways – THIS is the greatest challenge of all and THIS is how we live from our spiritual centers.

Imagine the Possibilities if You Stopped Resisting the Potential for New Growth

Imagine the possibilities if you stopped resisting the potential for new growth.  What looks like a cloudy day is actually fertile ground for blossoming more of your divine potential… just waiting to express and beautify your life!  Imagine your challenges as seeds waiting to blossom.  Water these seeds with gratitude instead of fear, hate or ignorance.  Face the beauty of life all around you instead of turning your back on the gifts of your hardships.  Resistance keeps you stuck.  If and when you are able to face your fears, you will see them as gifts from Spirit.   Use your heart to lead the way…  you already KNOW how, just allow yourself to remember…..

Namaste,

Debbie

Podcast Episode #11 – Bringing Peace to Election Day Results – Let’s Grieve Together & Restore Hope

Wow. Just wow. We wish we could stop there, but we can’t! Some say spirituality and politics are separate, but we know that spirituality isn’t separate from anything. All of it is in the swirl together. Today is an especially tough day for many people who were hoping that fear, hate, racism, misogyny, bigotry, terror, abuse, patriarchal imbalance, etc. would not win out today. But, here we are in an America that is divided and many are disheartened. How do we get through this day and the ones to come? How do we make peace with all of this? How do we make sense of it? Where do we go from here? We would like to offer you more ways to perceive and digest this experience in our nation and inside ourselves.

Wait until you hear the wonderful message from Laura Parrott Perryof In Others’ Words and Say It, Survivor! *The sound was very weak until the 26 minute mark – sorry! Maybe fast forward. Laura comes on at the 35 minute mark.

Podcast #10 – So, what is Reiki exactly? Listen in for the 411 on energy healing!

The spiritual journey often includes alternative healing therapies that help to open the heart, heal old hurts and toxic beliefs, and remove energetic blockages that can manifest as dis-ease or hold us back in our lives. Reiki is one of those therapies that works in harmony with any spiritual journey or can assist anyone on their life path, regardless of religious/spiritual orientation.

So, what is Reiki exactly? How does it actually work? From where does it originate? How does it contribute to a person’s health & wellness? Why is Western medicine taking a closer look at Reiki, where it is being included more frequently as an option in mainstream patient care? And what are some success stories/testimonials of Reiki treatments? Join Charlotte-based Reiki Masters Kathy Zering of http://www.kathyzering.com and Co-host Debbie Chisholm of http://www.debbiechisholm.com, and Co-host Kendall Heath of http://www.spiritualcharlotte.wordpress.com as we explore Reiki!

Podcast #9 – Interview with Channel & Intuitive, Aurora Gabriel

Happy Wednesday!

Today was our 9th podcast and our first live interview!  There is no mistake that Aurora Gabriel was our first guest….  she has been pivotal in each of our journeys to date and we just LOVE her!  Here’s a little bit about Aurora….

Aurora Gabriel has been channeling and offering intuitive readings for over 25 years. Based in Woodstock, MD, Aurora channels for people all over the world, via private phone sessions or in-person group channeling. The joy and effervescence that is Aurora is absolutely contagious and utterly comforting – it is no wonder why she was called to bring forth messages of Divine Love from Archangels, Ascended Masters, The Great Mothers, Mary Magdalene and the Women Healers, The Star Nations, and other Christed Light Races!

When we invited Aurora to be a guest on our show, it was immediately made known to her that there was a specific group that had something important to share through her while on our show, and in interviewing Aurora  as preparation for this broadcast, there were so many topics we wanted her to talk about, but we were continually guided back to focusing on one thing at a time….  so, channelling the “Marys” aka The Women Healers, is going to be a part of the show today – be sure to listen all the way through!

We just had to share this genuine, gifted, wonderful soul with you today, as she has helped us greatly over the years and may be able to bring you just the message that you need to hear today!  Click HERE to listen
